The general election is swiftly approaching and 2024 is proving to be another milestone event for our country, potentially shaping our democracy and the path of our country for decades to come. While the focus is always on the presidential race, the lives of anyone reading this will likely be impacted much greater by the state and local elections as well as the Florida constitutional amendments that are on the ballot.
The purpose of this post is not to endorse or advocate for any particular issue, position, or candidate. Rather, the purpose is to assist everyone in ensuring they have the information they need to vote, register to vote, and to check their voter registration status. Please read on for some helpful information about voting in Florida. But please keep in mind that the information on this page is general and is intended to point you in a helpful direction. For specific guidance on your status and how to vote, you should always contact your local Supervisor of Elections office.

Information About Voting
The general election date is Tuesday, November 5, 2024. You can
- Vote in person on the election date
- Vote early and in person
- Vote by mail if you are so registered
Information About Registering to Vote in Florida
The deadline to register to vote for the 2024 General Election is October 7, 2024.
- If you mail your application, the application must be postmarked by the registration deadline date for the applicable election.
- If you deliver the application in person, it must be received by the Supervisor of Elections office by the close of business by the deadline.
- If you submit an online application, the deadline is midnight (11:59:59 eastern time).
Below is helpful information from the Florida Department of State:
To submit an online voter registration, you will need:
- Your Florida driver license or Florida identification card issued by the Florida Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles,
- The issued date of your Florida DL or Florida ID card; and
- The last four digits of your Social Security Number.
Note: If you do not have any of the information above, you may still use the online system to prefill a voter registration application form. However, you will have to print, sign, and mail or deliver your voter registration application to your county Supervisor of Elections.
You should not use this system to register or update your voter registration information if you are a participant with the Florida Attorney General’s Address Confidentiality Program (See sections 741-401.-741.409, and 741.465, Florida Statutes). Contact your county Supervisor of Elections to register.
